The Hewett family is committed to the conservation and management of this World Heritage Nature Refuge. The 160-acre allotment contains undisclosed information that will help to unravel the mysteries of the survival of this ancient land. The rainforest releases its secrets slowly and we hope to remain here to receive and share its values.
The challenges of presenting its natural and cultural values to travellers from around the world has become our vocation and contributed to a way of life that is more harmonious with the landscape and more in keeping with the traditional landowners.
We have established a Knowledge Centre on our web site where we can store and share information about the Daintree Rainforest. We have recently added a phylogeny of listed birds and the section on invertebrates gives an insight into the hidden depths of an infinitely secretive rainforest.
Our “Feedback” pages encourage visitors to contribute and through these writings we can see that this amazing rainforest has a profound impact on people as they walk through it.
We are grateful to eco-tourism for the payments that allow us to share Nature’s Masterpiece and proud to be part of an experiment that has entrusted freehold landholders in the Daintree with World Heritage responsibilities.
