TOURS

"Extraordinarily beautiful, amazingly diverse, ancient and rare, inspirational in its grandeur and exclusivity."

Of the visitors from around the world who travel to Australia to see the world's oldest surviving rainforest in its pristine glory, less that 2% manage to find their way into it.

Cooper Creek Wilderness takes visitors right into the epicentre of the world's closest living counterpart to the ancient rainforests of Gondwana.  Estimated to have persevered through 135 million years of continuous growth, this relictual portion of Daintree Cape Tribulation Rainforest is supported by genuine ecotourism.  All activities have Advanced Ecotourism Accreditation.

Small groups are guided through a variety of rainforest types on natural trails.  The intimacy of the experience is unspoiled by artificial structures and competing groups.  Inhabitant guides passionately share their extensive expertise and knowledge with visitors that have sought deeper insight into more prestigious rainforest.

Cooper Creek Wilderness has packaged its tours to accommodate a range of pocket-sizes and to broaden the experience to include mangrove rainforest (in search of the elusive crocodiles) and lowland rainforest where the biodiversity and beauty is  at its best, both on day and night tours. There is opportunity for meals in local restaurants where you can be served delicious cuisine using local produce and you can enjoy the fuller magic of the rainforest.

Day tours explain the intricacy, biodiversity and antiquity of the rainforest and can include photograhy, birdwatching, ecology, natural history and science, and cultural and heritage values .

Nocturnal walks explore the night life, seeking out the secretive inhabitants of the forest and expanding on the complex interrelationships within the world's oldest rainforest.

We highly recommend that you do both a day and a nocturnal walk or combine them into a combination package.  The hidden secrets of this ancient rainforest deserve deliberation, often eluding the most determined observations of day visitation.
