Well, Cathy and I are back in the Netherlands after a beautiful trip in Australia. We think that the walk in Cooper Creek Wilderness was one of the highlights of our trip. The things you have told about the animals and plants were very interesting and of additional value for the other wilderness we have seen. We also enjoyed very much Paluma NP and Fraser Island and were even able to inform other travellers as well! We like the way how your (small) company copes with eco-tourism; not well considered eco-tourism probably will be the largest threat to Daintree forest.
The pictures of the lizard turned out pretty nice; as such I attached some which you maybe can use for your web-log...as you wrote that some people will be disappointed that the wild animals did not show up we realize the better the animals are there! And the picture makes you see the animal more detailed as well...
Kind regards,
Bart Tabingh

I hope you will forgive me for taking so long to write. Although my outer body has physically returned to England much of my heart and soul remain in Australia.
I have begun scribbling about the trip. Whether it turns into a book or a series of magazine articles or a one-off magazine in itself I do not yet know. The main thing is to get my thoughts down and see where I go from there.
I am indebted to you for making much of it occur. You gave of your time and knowledge and I shall always appreciate that.
I have some very nice photographs indeed - such as the lichen spider with young, which I will send on for your retention. Whilst some observers have managed to find the spider, no-one has yet come near noticing the young.
As I promised - anything I write you shall have copy of.
YOUR BEAUTIFUL SECRET LOCATION REMAINS WITH ME!

I am writing to thank you for a memorable walk in the rainforest. I was one of four people, a Finnish couple, an American guy and me, who joined you on a walk last week. My name is Frances and I am travelling in Australia for 2 months. I have had a lovely time here and have seen some beautiful things but my brief experience with the forest was special. I felt very privileged to be somewhere where one cannot help but feel at one with nature and to experience the wonder of it.
Your knowledge and love of your surroundings is inspiring. I enclose a book that I have just read. I think you might enjoy.
Many thanks for the wonderful walk,
Best wishes,

May be you remember, we are the ones who joined the day and the night tours on November 11 (I am the German-living Chinese, my wife is Margot). I would like to let you know that we enjoyed the extended walks and your explanations very very much, especially the 3 hours day tour. On the other side, that we were so lucky that we could at least see some glowing fungi that night. We are very very impressed by your magnificent stunning ancient rainforest and we have learned so much more about this amazing world through these walks.
You showed us also the place where your daughter had her wedding. It just would not get out of my mind. You know what, I always imagine that this wonderful wedding, though was not in a church, but was actually in a majestic “Fan Palm Cathedral”!
We would like to thank you once more for the fascinating day we had. Although we had only 4 hours of sleep that night because we had to take a very early flight from Cairns to Singapore the next morning, but we dreamed very well in these 4 hours.

If you want to see the oldest rainforest in the world in its completely natural glory then this is the tour to take, I cannot put into words the beauty of the experience, all I can say is that whilst in the centre of this truly wonderous rainforest, time stands still and there is no world outside, only the sounds of the rainforest and the feeling of utter peace that envelopes you.
Once again thank you Prue and see you again soon,

Experiencing first hand the ancient forest at Cooper Creek Wilderness is simply breath-taking. It is easy to see why Prue and Neil, our guides for the day and night walks, have such passion for this unique and sacred place. Sharing their detailed knowledge of the plants and animals of the Daintree with us as we walked among the ancient trees allowed us really to appreciate the need to preserve such a valuable natural asset. The diversity and richness of life in this wilderness is astounding: from the tiny white tree-snails and Boyd’s forest dragons, endemic to the Daintree, to the towering cathedral like fan palms, mahogonies and figs which have stood for centuries, the sense of heritage is ever present.
It may be some time before I can visit Australia again but I know that when I do, I will return to this wonderful place.

We took part in a daytime & night walk during our stay in your area in August last year. We found both walks very interesting and informative. The night walk was amazing. Anyone visiting the area would gain much more from one of your walks. When we next make it over from England we will certainly book the walks again.
Thanks,

Hope you remember the four of us on our walk through your forest. It was certainly one of the highlights of our seven week trip. We really enjoyed your knowledge and enthusiasm for us and your subject.
Thank you!

About three weeks ago I took one of your guided night-walks through the Cooper Creek area. I just wanted to thank you again for this wonderful and truly unique opportunity to experience the ancient Daintree rainforest. I am recommending your tours all over and I do discourage anyone I know who is bound to the area from taking the boardwalks or worse, embark on a day tour from Cairns. They do have your website in the latest Lonely Planet guide about Australia. I sent them an e-mail anyway strongly recommending your tours.

I just came across your website & wanted to drop you a note saying, "Thank You" for the excellent tour you gave us in 2000. The memories of your beautiful area and your reserved demeanour as you shared your knowledge of the area make me smile, even on a day like today here in Chattanooga, Tennessee...dark, dismal, rainy, cold...I was scouting the listing for the Daintree, looking for something green and sunny, when I came across your page and remembered our time there.
Again, thank you and happy trekking.

Several months ago my daughter and I visited Cape Tribulation. While we were there we decided to take a visit to the Cooper Creek Wilderness area and we booked a Cooper Creek Wilderness guided walk through the Daintree World Heritage Rainforest.
I was a bit unsure what to expect, as Cooper Creek is on freehold land. We had seen so much clearing of what was magnificent native vegetation by private "developers". We were pleasantly surprised. The guided walk by Cooper Creek Wilderness was fantastic. We were enthralled by the amazing diversity of plants and animals we saw at Cooper Creek and the knowledge that our guide had about the history and geography of the place as well as the plants and animals. This region of the Daintree Rainforest contains the greatest abundance of ancient flowering plant families on earth. Some species we saw, such as the cycads, have changed little for over one hundred million years. There is nothing like it in the world and it must be preserved.
The guided tour that we took at Cooper Creek was probably the most interesting and comprehensive that I have experienced (I have done all the other guided tours in the region). I would like to mention that this is a successful example of where a private landowner is acting as a caretaker for this World Heritage area. It was obvious that the Cooper Creek landowners had an extensive knowledge base as they had lived in the area for a considerable number of years.
It is of the ultimate importance that the public have the opportunity to be informed about the significance of our natural environment. Not only does the future of humans depend on this, but a place like the Daintree is wonderful for the soul. As a tour company, Cooper Creek Wilderness is providing a great service. If you have not been on this tour, I recommend it to you.

Thank you very much indeed for giving my family and myself the most fabulous, fantastic, and fascinating experience during our Australian adventure. Our day at Cooper Creek on Jan 4 is one of the most memorable days in our lives for all four of us: Helen, Martin, Malin and myself. We have watched our pictures and video recordings several times and wish we were back in the rain forest. I have read with great interest your excellent book CCWILD about Daintree, a wonderful souvenir. Remarkably, the first issue of Nature that I opened upon my return had a Boyd's forest dragon on its front cover (sadly as a representative for shrinking habitats).
Many thanks and best wishes from all four of us,

Steve and I thank you for the magnificent tour through the Cooper Creek forest yesterday. We felt so privileged to spend a full afternoon with you learning about the splendour of the rainforest. We really enjoyed getting to know you and appreciate your vast knowledge and loving stewardship for this precious piece of land.
Thank you again for giving us the most special afternoon of our trip to Australia.

Back in England's cold and wet far far away from the glories of the Daintree of more than a month ago, I finally caught the Extreme Australia TV show on the Discovery Channel! Wonderful to have memories prompted by the images shown though felt glad that we had not been there to experience The Wet or worse, the ongoing drizzle with associated damp sheets etc!!
Any way just to say that we are telling all that will listen that they have to go on one of your walks if they visit your part of the world....
All good wishes,

I would just like to say how grateful we are to you ... for the effort you made to persuade me to go to one of the most wonderful experiences I had in my life and that I will never forget ... the night walk in the forest ... I must admit I was really scared before starting.

It's taken me too long since we got back to email you - we visited on 21 October, the day after we got engaged and you took our engagement photos in the fan palm cathedral where your son was married. We have the perfect excuse to come back often (as you have told us, we need to see the rainforest at different times of the year to learn about its complexity!!).
We wanted to thank you for an absolutely fascinating tour of your rainforest - Cooper Creek is a very special part of the world and we felt very privileged to share it with you. We were very interested to learn so much about the rainforest from your wealth of knowledge - thank you for answering all of our questions!!

Just a short line to say how much we enjoyed our walk in the Rainforest with you,it was most informative and we have regretted so much that we had to rush away for the trip to look for crocodiles.
At least we have the video to remind us of our happy memories and we are avowed to return to see more. I did post a copy of the video to the German couple who were there with us and I am sure they enjoyed the visit as much as we did.
We got back to the UK after a couple of days in Sydney and now we are enjoying temperatures of -2degrees which is what it is outside our house at the moment. Quite a drop from the +30 that we had in Northern Queensland (enough to shake the scales from a Boyd's Forest Dragon)!
We wish you well in your future endeavours and hope to meet you again someday. Until then a very big and heartfelt thankyou for an entrancing afternoon.

Last week my sister-in-law, Wendy Gilson and myself joined one of your day wilderness walks in your beautiful rain forest.
I am writing to thank you again for the experience, which was a real privilege. We found as we walked through other forest areas during the following days that some of the information and insights you gave us helped to make some sense of what we were seeing. We were, quite obviously, still functioning from a fairly high ignorance level, but we were slightly more informed.
So I am thanking you again, not only for your knowledge, but for your enthusiasm and your infectious love of the Daintree rain forest.
Yours faithfully,

My niece, Laurie Linette and I want to thank you for the experience of a lifetime - your guided tour through the rainforest - it was the highlight of my entire visit to Australia! You really "know your stuff", as we Americans sometimes say. I wish I had taken notes and been equipped with the proper film for picture-taking. However, I did retain a lot and recorded it in my journal.
The dip in the lagoon was quite the most unexpected pleasure - you could not have been more accommodating or cordial.
